Opening a Window of Opportunity

Holyoke, Mass. - When Misty City Windows owner Nick Swindell saw someone washing windows with a stick and sponge, he knew he needed to get back into window cleaning. As someone who previously cleaned exteriors and windows for high-end properties in Washington, he knows a thing or two about window washing techniques.

Misty City Windows began as a part-time venture until Swindell was laid off during COVID, then he launched the company full-time serving clients in western Massachusetts. The name comes from his time in Seattle and the misty winters.

He follows the idea that “perfection is possible.” It’s on his business card and he believes that it can and should be achieved, especially when it comes to windows.

“We touch a window five to six times whereas other companies touch it two to three,” he said. “The quality and the care that we put into each home is unmatched.”

Always with Customer Service in Mind

This focus on customer service has always been an important part of what Swindell does. His main goal when starting Misty City Windows was to make the experience easy for the customer.

“I just want to leave people with a good feeling in their gut as we’re walking away,” Swindell said.

That’s a reason that he opted to use the Stand Out Truck®. Both companies do what they can to create a positive experience for the customer, and both put in extra effort to take care of their customers.

“I can put my money with someone who feels the way I do,” he said.

Not Just Windows

Owners Nick and Megan Swindell

Swindell has a long history of being on the contractor side. As a nine-year-old, he helped family members on a home building site. This set the foundation for understanding the entire building process and importance of quality.

Safety is another priority for Swindell. He ensures his staff are EMT-certified including wife Megan who is part-owner and office manager for Misty City Windows.

Although it’s called Misty City Windows, they also can clean the entire exterior and provide an analysis of what work should be done. It could be as simple as repairing weather seal on a specific window or extensive as roof damage. Especially when it relates to items still under warranty or finding a contractor for repair work, Misty City Windows provides photos and a description of what needs to be done. It’s all part of the quality customer service he thinks everyone deserves.

“In my mind when I walk on the property, it’s a $50 million property,” he said. “I’m going to treat everyone the same way.”
