Reclaiming Time with Laundry Central

Westfield, Mass. - Time is precious.

Reclaiming that time is exactly what Alex Bloom hopes his customers will be able to do when they utilize his laundry services at Laundry Central in downtown Westfield.

“Life’s too short to be doing laundry,” he said, estimating that families spend up to eight hours a week on this household task. It’s time that he knows families can easily reclaim.

Bloom said most people don’t realize that it’s an option to have someone else do their laundry. People have access to food delivery, grocery delivery and home house cleaners. “Why not have your laundry done as well?” he asked.

Customers can schedule a pickup at their convenience via YesWeLaundry.com. The business will wash, dry, fold, and put laundry on hangers based on customer preference. Services are available for a single laundering, or on a subscription basis. Generally, laundry is completed within 24 hours.

Laundry Central also has a completely automated services for those who prefer to do their own laundry.

Realtor and business owner Bloom partnered with Adam Kenney to renovate the new Laundry Central location and create a new experience that goes beyond what people expect from a laundromat.

“I hope it sets a standard for what they can see moving forward,” he said.

Learning About Laundry

Bloom didn’t know much about the laundry business when he started. After years in the automotive industry, he moved into real estate and began seeking more opportunities for a passive income after working 24/7.

Post-pandemic challenges prompted him to unload certain properties in favor of specific industries. That’s how he began exploring laundry services.

“YouTube said it was a great idea,” Bloom said. Through his research, he discovered that laundromats are recession-proof and require minimal supervision.

He found his first laundry in Torrington, Conn. The business was fully equipped and was a simple stepping stone to his Westfield location.

Although he was a quick to learn the laundry business, he realized he didn’t know much about marketing. In his quest to find a marketing class, he discovered Marketing and Cupcakes™ and the MAC RED group.

“When you’re self-employed, you’re the one who’s doing it all,” he said. MAC RED was created to provide simple marketing solutions in an easy-to-understand format for small business owners and entrepreneurs. The networking program was an ideal fit for Bloom.

From MAC RED classes he’s learned one thing in particular.

“Simple ads work,” he said. Once he adjusted his mindset to that perspective, he adapted his social media posts and communication. “Less is more.”

He formerly used mobile billboard Stand Out Truck® to advertise one of his other businesses, and appreciated the convenience it offers versus trying to do the same thing himself.

“I can pay Stand Out Truck® to be more places than I can, and they can change the ads anytime,” he said.

Coming Clean

One of Bloom’s goals is to reframe the perception people have of a laundromat. Whether someone doesn’t have time for laundry, or they have physical challenges preventing them from easily accessing laundry, he wants them to know Laundry Central can help.

“We want to be the company you think of when you want it picked up and delivered,” he said.

Being able to provide laundry services throughout the area is something he’s exploring for the future. Changing perspective of how laundry can be done, he hopes to help others reclaim the precious commodity of time.

“Laundry doesn’t have to be a terrible task that you dread doing, you can visit our website and have someone else take care of it,” he said. “Life’s too short to be doing laundry.”
