SkinCatering Salon & Spa: Helping Rockstars & Revolutionaries Show Their Skin Some Love

Springfield, MA – “We really feel like making someone feel confident in their own body is a truly important job,” shared Leanne Sedlak and Kim Brunton-Auger, Owners of SkinCatering Salon & Spa. “Innovation in skincare has become even more ‘top of mind’ as we address some of the defining issues brought to the forefront by COVID, including conditions like “Maskne” where increasing numbers of individuals are having very real skin challenges due to constant mask wearing. It’s been an awesome experience helping people to get this under control. Knowing that what we do can give people that boost of confidence that they need drives our passion.”

Sedlak entered the beauty industry providing a mobile spray tan service while enrolled in massage school. She also started selling skin care products and doing parties for a non-toxic skincare line, eventually leading her to the conclusion that everything she was doing was all skin related. In November 2010, Sedlak came up with the name SkinCatering for her business and started selling products out of her home until she purchased a space in Chicopee. “I cater to people’s skin. We like to remind our clients to ‘cater to your spirit’, do something nice for yourself, be nice to your skin. I always tell my clients: treat your skin like it’s someone else’s!”

Sedlak soon after met Brunton-Auger at a melanoma event encouraging people to recognize the early signs and a lasting connection was made. “We realized that we were both passionate about clean, all-natural beauty. I was looking for an aesthetician and she was looking for a place to call home.” And in 2012, Brunton-Auger partnered with Sedlak to build a business based on their shared passion for healthy, well-cared-for skin. They soon started working on a skin care line of their own, using top quality products as part of Brunton-Auger’s dream for the business, and launched the line in 2017, but their growth and expansion didn’t stop there.

The partners continued to try new formulations, innovating in skin care solutions, and making continual development a core value in the work they do. In addition to the products and services provided to SkinCatering’s clientele, the business also provides products and services to other salons, sometimes designing specific products for their customized services. “We manufacture products to meet new needs and that will never get old to us. We love research and development.” In addition, Sedlak and Brunton-Auger provide spa design consulting services for businesses looking to open or expand.

“It was also Kim’s dream to have a blowout bar and nail salon added to the business. When we initially considered it, we were in the process of opening a second location in Holyoke at the time, so we momentarily put those goals on hold. About a year later, we were approached by the new property owners and leasing agent who asked if we knew any businesses looking to expand into a corner downtown space.

We began having conversations about potentially renovating the space, removing a wall, and expanding our services. We decided to take the leap and spent all of 2019 brainstorming and reviewing logistics, talking with the leasing agent, and then we expanded in 2020! We’re excited about doing hair now, and our hairdresser Alana is very well-versed in all types of haircare and does haircuts for men as well.” SkinCatering also now provides nail services, including manicures, pedicures, and nail enhancements.

For customers new to SkinCatering’s menu of offerings, the Relaxing Spa Day Package was the top recommendation as an optimal place to start. This option includes two services for just $99, including a 45-minute therapeutic massage and a 45-minute relaxing facial. “For someone new to SkinCatering, it’s a 90-minute appointment that introduces you to the benefits of our products and services and makes a great gift as a budget-friendly, luxury experience.”
